Lambing Bluefaced Leicesters

Lambing Bluefaced Leicesters

A pale night sky fading into sorts of pink, amber and blue. Stepping through the muddy gateway, a fresh puddle sprays mud up my clean jeans. Chickens rooting in the nearby runs rustle and babble when they her me call in my girls for the night. Apprehension is in my belly, I have not lambed Blues before and their due date is fast looming.

We have Registered Gotland Rams for sale. All are very tame and bucket trained. Two of the rams are proven and have produced some beautiful lambs. All of the rams are registered, fully vaccinated and wormed. Please get in touch if you are interested.

Protecting our ewes in lamb

Protecting our ewes in lamb

A few years ago we decided to purchase the FECPAKG2  system so we could carry out faecal egg count (FEC) processing on-farm. Perhaps now the grass can start to grow and the spring flowers emerge…

Make hay while the sun shines

Make hay while the sun shines

The meaning and origin of the expression: Make hay while the sun shines Make the most of one’s opportunities while you have the chance. This proverb is first recorded in 1546; Whan the sunne shinth make hay. Whiche is to say. Take time whan time cometh, lest time steale away Of course, medieval farmers would be as well aware of the wisdom of not leaving it too late to gather one’s hay.
